Show Synopsis

To pass the time until the marriage of Claudio and Hero, Don Pedro and company conspire to set-up Benedick, a self-proclaimed bachelor for life, with his rival Beatrice.

Character Breakdown

Hero – the daughter of Leonato and love interest of Claudio
Leonato – governor of Messina; father to Hero and uncle to Beatrice
Don Pedro – prince of Aragon; good friends with Claudio and Benedick
Borachio – follower of Don John
Friar Francis – officiator of Claudio and Hero’s wedding
Balthasar – musician in the company of Don Pedro

What To Prepare

Please prepare a 1-2 minute comedic Shakespearean monologue to be emailed to No memorization required. If you play an instrument and would like to be considered for the role of "Balthasar", please note so in your email.

Additional Info

Showcase Community Theatre is partnering with Ghostlight Theatre for this production. All rehearsals and shows will be held at Ghostlight, located at 13541 W Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, AZ 85375.

Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday, from 7PM to 10PM. Evening shows will be at 7PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Matinees will be performed at 2PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Please submit any conflicts you may have along with your audition tape. Auditions will be accepted until Friday, May 7th.

This is a revival of a production that was meant to go up in Spring of 2020. The roles of Benedick, Beatrice, Claudio, Margaret, Don John, and Dogberry have been pre-cast.
