Show Synopsis

Poisoned apples. Glass slippers. Who needs ’em?! Not Snow White and her posse of disenchanted princesses in the hilarious hit musical that is anything but Grimm. Forget the princesses you think you know. When these royal renegades toss off their tiaras, this hilariously subversive, not-for-the-kiddies musical reveals what really happened ‘ever after’!

Character Breakdown

Snow White:  Female, 30-55  Strong A3–G5; brassy and ballsy, sassy and self-assured. Leader of the Princess pack; likes to be in control; equal parts serious-minded, sexy, and fun-loving; she aspires to be perfect in all that she does but soon realizes that being perfectly ‘you’ is more important; must have great ‘straight man’ comedic timing, improvisation skills with fantastic soprano range (belt, mix, legit).  Ethnicity: All Ethnicities.

Cinderella: Female, 21-55  A3-A5; perky and quirky, slightly ditzy; she is always enthusiastic, especially when it comes to being a real-life princess; a happy-go-lucky woman who is about to discover that there’s more to being a princess than gowns and glass slippers; must have great comedic timing, improvisational skills with a strong soprano belt.  Ethnicity: All Ethnicities.

Pocahontas: Female, 21-55  G3-A5 (belt to E5)  Overtly feminine.  Must have amazing comedic timing, strong improvisation skills, physical comedy, strong soprano with pop belt.  Ethnicity: Native American, Asian, Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, Indigenous Peoples, Latino / Hispanic, Middle Eastern, South Asian / Indian, Southeast Asian / Pacific Islander.

Princess Badroulbadour  Female 21 – 55.  A cheesy-jazzy lounge singer (Princess Badroulbadour from the Aladdin stories); Must have amazing comedic timing, strong improvisation skills, physical comedy, strong soprano with pop belt.  Ethnicity: Native American, Asian, Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, Indigenous Peoples, Latino / Hispanic, Middle Eastern, South Asian / Indian, Southeast Asian / Pacific Islander.

The Princess Who Kissed The Frog: Female, 21-55  F#3-F#5; Forgotten and left out of the kingdom for many years, this empowered African-American woman has now arrived on the scene as a fabulous, show-stopping storybook princess; she is the ultimate supreme diva in the land and she’s ready to take the world by storm; must have strong vocal chops (high belt) as well as great comedic timing and improvisational skills.  Ethnicity: Black / African Descent, Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial.

What To Prepare

Auditioners are asked to sing 16- 32 bars of a song that best shows off their voice and range, this will be followed by a dance audition. Early video auditions - which must be submitted prior to September 11 – may be submitted and can substitute for appearing at the Saturday or Sunday auditions. The video should include a song showing off your voice and range and a 1 minute dance routine demonstrating the extent of your dance training. However, if chosen from a video audition, candidates will be required to appear in person at the callbacks. Video auditions should be sent to peter@fhtaz.org. FHT prefers and encourages auditioners to be vaccinated.

Additional Info

Fountain Hills Theater is committed to the safety of their patrons, staff, and performers. We will be closely following CDC safety recommendations, as well as local guidelines, due to COVID-19. Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the facility. Arm rests, door handles and other surfaces commonly touched by the public are thoroughly cleaned prior to each performance.
FHT currently offers the following options:
1. Provide proof of vaccination.
2. Provide proof of negative COVID test, less than 72 hours old.
3. Wear a mask while indoors.
FHT requires that all patrons abide by one of these options to attend any production.
