Intro
to Technique / Intro to Scene Study starts October 21
Technique/Introduction
to Scene Study for Adults will be held Tuesdays from 6:30-9:30 pm October 21-November
25, 2008. This six-week class focuses on the nuts and bolts of technique and character
development and will prepare actors for entering the Scene Study Class. Actors
will learn how to prepare and score a part, how to use dramatic improv and how
to work effectively and flexibly with a scene partner. This class is also great
for actors who have taken class at Verve but would like a more in-depth look at
Character Development. Students will work individually and will be partnered up;
work outside the class is required. This class is the pre-requisite for the Monday
Scene Study class.
Course is $200 and is taught by Dee Rich and Amanda
Melby.

"I
have always been so impressed with your eagerness to teach the craft you are so
good at. You have helped me so much I can't even quantify it. I can't even imagine
a life without acting. Thank you so much!" - A.S.
What
sets Verve Studios apart from other studios is that classes are taught by Working,
Professional (Union) Actors and teachers. Our coaches know technique and the business
because they are working in it. They teach proven methods and techniques.
Verve
coaches students to understand their technique so they can succeed in the business
as well. The on-going structure of the Scene Study class is unique to this market
and actors have benefitted greatly by this long-term approach. Just like you can't
become a professional athlete in a 6-week summer camp, you can't become a working
actor with a 6-week class either. Understanding your technique and process takes
time and dedication and Verve classes will get you there.
Verve's
Scene Study class has been on-going for 36 months now and provides a way to combine
your energy and enthusiasm for acting with a comprehensive set of tools and techniques
designed to create truthful, organic moment-to-moment life on stage on a weekly
basis. A combination of coaching and self-evaluation allows the actor to identify
strengths and weaknesses and to grow. During each class everyone will put up work,
whether that work is solo or a partnered scene.
There
are two classes available: MONDAY afternoons from 1-4 pm and MONDAY nights from
6:30-9:30 pm. New students can enroll at the beginning of the month. Intro class
is required.
